Moving to college is an exciting experience in every student’s life. However, it is also an apprehensive feeling for many because one needs to leave the comforts of home and move into a surrounding that is completely alien.

One has to carry a lot many things in order to establish a comfortable residence in the college away from home. In most cases, college dormitories and off-campus apartments are really small and can accommodate only a limited number of items. It is always good to make a checklist of things that are required to accompany.
The most important are the daily requirements that include items like bath towels, bath soaps, bathrobe, toothbrush and toothpaste, cosmetics like body lotion and deodorant, razor and shaving cream, shampoo and conditioner, hair towels, hair dryer, nail clipper, tissues, washcloths and dental floss. The next important aspect to be taken care of is the first-aid equipment and other medicines. Some important items that need to be included in the medicine cabinet include acne cream, adhesive strips, aspirin, antibiotic cream, contact lens solution, cotton balls, cotton swabs, decongestants, eye glasses, eye drops, contact lenses, hot/cold packs, pain reliever, antacid, vaporub and multi-vitamin tablets.
Also, to be included in the packing list are items like bed linen, blankets, comforter, mattress pad, pillow and sleeping bag. Clothing should include all the regular wear like pants, shirts, jeans, watch, belts, sneakers, shoes, purse, shorts, socks, sweaters, sweat shirts, swim suits, T-shirts, underwear and even workout clothes. Accessories inside the room include alarm clock radio, answering machine, stick pins, erasable memo board, pens, family photos, fan, a music system, telephone, TV, microwave oven, inflatable chair, refrigerator, coffee maker, hot plant, can opener, toaster oven and a night lamp. It is also useful to carry certain utensils for the kitchen. A computer along with accessories like diskettes, CDs, printer, and speakers can be a useful companion.
Essential items that are needed at any cost include bank account checks, prepaid credit cards, driver’s license, financial-aid forms, medical insurance card, student registration information, renter’s insurance, social security card and student ID. Any type of transportation like bicycle, automobile, motor bike or a motor scooter is useful.
